Hirjee Sets Up Two Records.

ade a triumphant entry into the final of the National Billiards Championship beating Rafik Dina (Bombay) by 2,564 to 1,010 points at the Great Eastern Hotel on Thursday last . Hirjee , who was in a scoring mood created two records .
His score of 2,564 in four hours was new in the Nationals .
The previous best was 2,426 by Wilson Jones in 1951 . His score of 1,314 compiled in 24 visits in the second session which meant an average of 54.7 was an All-India Record for any player in two hours .
Hirjee played his best so far in this year’s Nationals on the day . Although he started with four bank visto and had scored 3 in his fifth came up with a break of 114 in the 6th visit and from then on he became more and more fluent with his strokes .
He had four double century breaks of which three were done in the second session when he was playing faster . His over century breaks were 114 , 116 , 179 , 259 and 194 in the first session and 231 , 212 , 266 and 134 after the interval while Dina had one century break of 123 . It was in the 20th visit of the second session .
