Ramage wins A poor Match
From our sports correspondent
CALCUTTA November 30: Walter Ramage (Scotland) in a dull and uninteresting game, beat Ameen Yunoos (Burma) by 1599 points to 834 in the World Amateur Billiards Championship here tonight.
The contest was poor. Neither displayed any brilliance and the few enthusiasts who watched the game were bored.
It is Difficult to point out one redeeming feature of this colour-less tie. The first session saw Ramage lead by 672 points to 441.
Big breaks in the first session were few and far between and the few that were scored over the fifty mark were knocked up by Ramage who had runs of 60, 53 and 51.
The standard of play did not improve in the second session. The only notable feature was a break of 211 by Ramage, his highest in the present Championship as also his total of 1,599.
