Ismail started well in the first frame with a break of 15. Then he potted a red and the black but gave four away soon after and Hirjee went in to run away with the frame. The second and third frames were completely one – sided.

Second Match
Jones played well within himself but was not involved in break – building his heights being 25 in the second frame. But he showed more then a hint of genius which should manifest itself more strongly against better opposition.
Sinha had a setback at the very beginning when he gave four away but his best efforts later were the potting of a red and a black followed up with a red , the blue , and another red. Thereafter he scored only in small instalments.
