After two successive defeats W. Ramage of Scotland obtained two consecutive victories in the World Amateur Billiards championship on Sunday when he beat A. Yunoos of Burma by 1599 points to 834 at the Great Eastern hotel. The Scottish champion had won his previous match against W. Jones Yunoos has lost all four matches he has played so far. He has only to meet A.L. Driffield (England).
On Sunday there was little interest in the game which produced dull billiards. Neither player played attractively and big breaks were strange to both.
In the first session Ramage, led by 672 points to 441. In this period he made three breaks over the fifty mark which were 60, 53 and 51. yunoos’ best break . In this session was a poor 56, Ramage improved in the second session but the game continued to be colourless. Ramage total of 1,599 in his highest for the present championship. In this session he made a double century break of 211, which also proved his highest century break in this championship. It may be mentioned here that Ramage’s highest break in the 1951 tournament was 151 and 164 against Jones. Ramage’s other big breaks to the second session were 75, 85 and 71.
