Easy Victory in Billiards final

National title holder Chandra Hirjee won the Calcutta Amateur Billiards Championship at the Chowringhee Y. M. C. A. on Saturday night defeating S. N. Banerjee by 2,143 points to 1,451 in a four-hour final .
This tournament supported by the Billiards Association and Control Council for India , was well organized by the Chowringhee Branch of Y. M. C. A. , an institution that has done much to further the cause of billiards in Calcutta .
Having won the Snooker title earlier , Hirjee thus completed a double , his play on Saturday night , revealing the touch of a master .
Hirjee led all the way without being extended but Banerjee was a game loser and pegged away courageously , treating the crowd to some very good strokes . Hirjee , of course played his usual top-table game which laid the foundation of big break building .
At the end of the first session Hirjee led by 946 points to 692 . He really warmed up after the interval and towards the end , was scoring fluently , his break of 144 being particularly brilliant .
The trophies Hirjee won were the Kumar Ganesh Mullick (for Billiards) and the Uday Chandra Madhav (for Snooker) .

Banerjee—51 , 78 , 102 .
